Generally, you must complete a minimum number of courses to graduate with a diploma. You no longer need to pass the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE) to receive your diploma.
In Los Angeles Unified School District:
• If you are graduating before 2016, you need 230 credits (passed with a D or better) to graduate with a diploma.
• If you are graduating in 2016 or after, you need 210 credits to graduate with a diploma.
• If you are graduating in 2017 or later, you will need 210 credits and to pass your classes with a C or better to graduate with a diploma.
Other districts have different requirements, so if you are going to a non-LAUSD school, make sure to check with your counselor to find out what is required.
